About this Bird on a Bike

Hey everyone!

About this Bird on a Bike: I’m mid-20s, London-based, fuelled by Yorkshire Tea. Sporty, too, and although hockey and jogging had been my go-to physical activities, over the past 12 months I’ve dived (sometimes hesitantly; sometimes naively) head-first into the world of cycling.

Now I want to share my journey with you all, whilst creating a community of like-minded people in what can feel, at times, like a very intimidating space. This Bird on a Bike wants to reach fellow pedal-pushers to foster a space where we can share our tales of triumph and disaster, and what we learned along the way.

So, what prompted me to start writing this blog?  Well, given my experience, it was probably a little premature, but me and my fella decided to bike the NC500 in Scotland earlier this year. As a relative newbie to cycling, I suppose I was a little out of my depth from the get-go, but you have to start somewhere, so why not in the glorious (hilly) Scottish Highlands? Many things didn’t go to plan, but cycling is all about the adventure, right? It’d be boring if everything went to plan!

My posts aren’t overly technical, but if you’re new to the sport and are hoping to learn a few things along the way, I can promise you faithfully they’ll be equal parts informative and fun! I’m so excited to take you exploring with me.

Emma
